Illinois Legislature Considering the Uniform Collaborative Law Act

The Uniform Collaborative Law Act (“UCLA”) is draft legislation promulgated by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws in response to a perceived need for a comprehensive Statute addressing the practice of Collaborative Law. The UCLA is a limited-scope representation/non-litigation model of family law conflict resolution. An Illinois version of the UCLA has recently been introduced in the Illinos Senate as SB 31 and in the Illinois House as HB 1029.
